KAABOO Cayman Islands Style

The Caribbean version of KAABOO was held in the Cayman Islands 🇰🇾 on February 15 and 16 on the iconic Seven Mile Beach. This festival Virgin Produced was the first of its kind in the Caribbean. It offered music, art, comedy and gastronomy.

KAABOO was created by music lovers for music lovers. An adult escape, uniquely curated to appeal to all five of your senses, with world-class music, inspiring contemporary art, hilarious comedy, gourmet cuisine, craft libations and personal indulgences. This Caribbean Music Festival has both the legacy of KAABOO and the beauty of the Caribbean to offer.

There was an international cast of performers gracing the 2 mega stages, the Ironshore stage and the Coral Reef stage.

Concert goers enjoyed multigenerational music across many genres; including pop, R & B, reggae and electronic.

Local performers represented well and the DJs kept the crowd pumped and dancing under the stars, in between performance sets.

Tickets began selling one year in advance and were sold out one month before the event. Ten thousand people passed through the gates on both days.

Out of the total line up of performers, I enjoyed Flo Rida, Bryan Adams and Sean Paul the most.

I missed the performances of Romain Virgo, a Jamaican reggae artiste and Jason Derulo, the Haitian-American multi- platinum, Grammy Award powerhouse.

Another enjoyable aspect of the festival for me was the art, local and international.

Best known for creating large scale murals covering walls, ceilings and entire rooms, Tansy Maki, Canadian born, Cayman Island resident adds joy and colour to the Cayman Islands and far beyond.

Paola Delfin a Mexican Street Artist and Jet Martínez were commissioned to do murals and the audience was able to see art come alive as pieces were completed on the spot.
